Malaysian Examinations Council (MEC) was established on 1 February 1980 under the Malaysian Examinations Council Act [Act 225] is a statutory body that operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Education. The opening ceremony of the establishment of the MMC was officiated by Minister of Education at that time, namely Dato ‘Musa bin Black on April 22, 1980.

The goal of the MDGs is to conduct certain examinations and all other things necessary or incidental to such examinations. Examination was gazetted Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) that was implemented in 1982 to replace the Higher School Certificate examination (HSC) and the Higher School Certificate (HSC), which is operated by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES).
